| Note Starting January 2017, the compilation of the monetary aggregates and their counterparts is based on the consolidated balance sheets of depository corporations. Effective February 1, 2023, Banque du Liban (BDL) announced a change of Lebanon's official exchange rate from 1,507.5 LBP / USD to 15,000 LBP / USD. The negative value recorded in the ’Other Items, Net’ starting May 2023 is attributed to the reduction of approximately USD 4 billion in the ‘Unclassified Assets’ item of the BDL balance sheet. This reduction is due to a re-allocation of funds to the ‘Re-Valuation Adjustment (Articles 75 & 115 of C.M.C.) item in the BdL balance sheet. Based on the BdL Central Council Decision No. 48/4/24, dated 02/15/2024, the official exchange rate of 89,500 LBP per dollar has been adopted in the BdL Balance sheet starting January 31st 2024. |
