Note
Effective February 1, 2023, Banque du Liban (BDL) announced a change of Lebanon's official exchange rate from 1,507.5 LBP / USD to 15,000 LBP / USD. Based on the BdL Central Council Decision No. 48/4/24, dated 02/15/2024, the official exchange rate of 89,500 LBP per dollar has been adopted in the BdL Balance sheet starting January 31st 2024. Based on Central Council decision number 23/36/45 dated 20/12/2023, all previous Central Council decisions related to Seigniorage were suspended and all deferred interest costs emanating from open-market operations are to be presented under a new line item. As a result, all deferred interest costs included in Other Assets and Assets from Exchange Operations amounting to LBP118.97 Trillion as at 31/12/2023 are transferred to "Deferred Open-Market Operations. |
