Note At 2019 constant prices (chain-linked). Since 2020, the Central Administration of Statistics has employed a unitary exchange rate — a weighted average of actual exchange rates applied to imports— to convert GDP and related aggregates between Lebanese pounds and US dollars. This methodology was implemented following the collapse of the official fixed exchange rate regime of 1,507.5 LBP per USD at the end of 2019, which led to widespread reliance on multiple parallel market rates. The unitary exchange rates used for the period were approximately 3,843.5 LBP/USD in 2020, 12,647.0 LBP/USD in 2021, 30,473.5 LBP/USD in 2022, and 87,472.3 LBP/USD in 2023. Figures from 2012 onwards have been updated following revisions. |
Description Constant price figures are referred to as "volume" and "real" terms figures. The constant price estimates are similar to those at current prices, but with the inflation taken out. They are expressed in the prices of a reference year. |
